Carla Bruni, getting married and late Valentine’s gift.

It was a Thursday night. Upon my arrival to work, I found out that the performer of the night will be.. Carla Bruni!! Who would have thought she will come and sing at Berklee Performance Center.

We got assigned to our positions and just like every other work shift I went to do my job. At the end of the show, Carla decided to sing 2 songs for an encore. (I was standing by the stage just to make sure no one goes on and off at the end).

When she finished the first song I noticed that a guy from a first row goes on his knee and proposes to a girl! First of all, I’ve never seen that happen in real life. Second of all, all my thoughts were focused on how much I wish Carla could see it. Well… she didn’t.

After the concert I asked them if they would like a picture on the stage. We started talking and I was just so so happy for them ๐Ÿ™‚

They left. Maybe 2 minutes after they left, Carla’s tour manager (or something among those lines ๐Ÿ™‚ ) came on stage. I told him about what happened and asked if he could let Carla know about it. He said: ” Where is the couple?!”. I ran and found them. Brought them back to the stage and they went to meet her!!!

At the end of my shift I saw them again. They were just a ball of happiness.

Best after Valentine’s gift possible ๐Ÿ™‚

A thousand miles away..

25634903_10203771550686950_1303668703_o.jpgWhen I go to the airport I always think of the time, dreams, destinations and the road we go through to get where we want to be.

Waiting to see the loved ones we haven’t seen for months or years, leaving what we know to chaise our dreams, coming back to reunite, even if for a couple of days etc.25624377_10203771578767652_102083504_o.jpg25635058_10203771550646949_55039846_o (1).jpg

The reason why I absolutely love Christmas, is the fact that my entire family gets together. We live in all parts of the world. Boston, California, Georgia, Philippines… Crazy right? No matter what, we all come to Poland, every – single – year. To meet, to be together..!ย 25624413_10203771550806953_788540603_o.jpg25624557_10203771550846954_2109105386_o.jpg25624756_10203771550566947_674560726_o (2).jpg

Christmas is special in so many ways.. It reminds me that family is the core of my life. Being together, supporting each other, traveling a thousand miles, is worth it each time.

Once a year we are not a thousand miles away.

We are TOGETHER ๐Ÿ™‚

Never enough .. Celebrating every day! :)

Christmas is not only a time when my family eats a lot of food.. ๐Ÿ™‚ It is also a time when we turn our house in a Holiday winter wonderland.ย 25552734_10203767762672252_597828874_o.jpg

When I walk in, I feel like I just arrived at Santa’s house at the North Pole. We have decorations literally everywhere, and to be honest.. I love it!ย  It only adds up the the magical spirit that Christmas brings each year.

I can not take credit for these amazing decorations. It is all done by my mom. I think she has the most artsy soul in the family. She always tells me stories about her mother, who taught her all of that, and who was always looking forward to Christmas or Easter or even just casual dinner with friends. It was always a chance to prepare something beautiful!ย 25592978_10203767763152264_641929797_o.jpg

That’s my Grandma! So beautiful, isn’t she?

I hope I also got some of her creative genes in my blood ๐Ÿ™‚

I think Christmas is a good remind of the importance of small “special” moments in our life. Celebrating the time that we have together with the ones that we love, friends, family. Why wait? ๐Ÿ™‚ Do it now!25577381_10203767762352244_268381403_o.jpg

Love always,

Getting ready for Christmas!

Did I mention that I love Christmas?

Family gets together for a few days, we exchange gifts and surprise one another, we eat and cook, watch movies and sing carols and when we are tired of all of that, we eat a little bit more .. Basically, we eat all the time. ๐Ÿ™‚

This year I decided to do a Christmas countdown.

It’s Monday and everyday is very significant since we are only a few days away from December 24th!

Let’s begin with gingerbread cookies. Who doesn’t like those???ย 25552512_10203763294680555_1428825006_o.jpg

Not only you get to eat them while you make them :), you can also decorate them in all sorts of ways. It can be such an amazing family activity.

We haven’t decorated ours yet, have you?

What is your favorite Christmas activity that you do with your family? ๐Ÿ™‚

How 4 days can change your life..

Although it’s summer, I feel like I didn’t have time to rest. Promotion, concerts, rehearsals etc. that were a part of the EP took over my entire time and energy. All I wanted is to get away, be somewhere where there is no internet, no signal and a lake that I can swim in:)ย 21057060_10203384844339533_1745012615_o.jpg

I think I have a really good luck, because upon my arrival to my Grandma’s house there was a storm, which lead to no power, no signal and no water. At first I thought it’s a disaster. Only later I realized it was a true blessing.

How no power, no internet, no heat or water be a blessing? Well, when you have absolutely nothing you have time. Time to be creative, to think, to reflect, to rest. Time to actually talk to someone that is next to you, to have discussions about the book you read or the things you see around you.

I am not a painter. I was always ashamed to do it because I saw the things I don’t like in all that I drew or painted. When I had no internet or power, I had nothing/no one to compare myself to. I brought brushes and paint just in case I would want to try to create something again. One evening, I sat down at a porch and started drawing. It opened up my brain, my soul and suddenly I stopped judging myself.

Is it because I had no internet or power and I was resting from something that is constantly in my mind and hands? I don’t know. What I know for sure is that a small thing like this changed me and how I feel when I do things I am not perfect or even good at.

That way, 4 days with no power, no signal and no water changed my life. I realized that talking to people, but not half talking!, is more important than anything. Being present right now, taking time to listen to your thoughts, ideas, not judging yourself and letting go of fears and barriers that we create for ourselves is a key to be happy.

Try it.

Listen to what is inside of you, don’t just judge yourself, do something that you always wanted but maybe you were too afraid to do.

Sometimes a small thing such as no power can change your life/point of view.

The night of my dreams!

One year ago, I remember going to the manager of a place called “Cud nad Wisล‚ฤ…” in Warsaw, and asking if there is a possibility of performing there. The first question I heard was: “Are you famous?” (yep, he really said it). My reply was obvious. I heard that I should come back in a few years.

For many, situations like this demotivate, everything seems impossible to accomplish, but for me it is a complete opposite. That gave me more strength to prove him wrong. I remember walking away from that place thinking that I will perform there sooner or later.

Almost exactly a year later, I was standing on that stage, with my band ready to go, with my debut EP in my hands, thinking that impossible, became possible.

It was the biggest concert I’ve ever played in my life and… it felt like the night of my dreams! Many of my friends and family showed up, but also a lot of people that I’ve never met before.

There is nothing like seeing smiling faces after your concert, walking away, singing your song. It all wouldn’t be possible, if not for the people who came and supported me. Thank you for making that concert so magical and making my dream come true ๐Ÿ™‚

“The best things in life come unexpectedly”

Will it ever end? I hope not.

There is something called farmers market in Poland. It is not only a place where local farmers come to sell their vegetables, fruits, flowers etc., but also a place of meetings, especially for older people.ย I love it because you can get products from people who worked with their own hands to make it happen and grow. I love it also because it allows people, especially the older generation, to go out, dress up and be with others.

I hope they will last forever, even if only for people to go out and be with each other ๐Ÿ™‚

Call me old fashioned..

Am I the only one who still thinks that sending mail is much better than an email or a Facebook message? There is such an exciting feeling inside of me every time I open my mail box and see a colorful envelope waiting to be read.

It is so wonderful to think that someone put time and effort into writing it by hand.ย While writing my own letters I feel like Elizabeth Bennet from “Pride and Prejudice”.. I guess you can call me old fashioned ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you like writing letters? I hope this practice never dies in ourย digital age.

My Secret Passion

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

Not a lot of you know that I have a secret passion (besides music of course). Ever since I was in middle school I would spend hours trying to braid my own hair. Once I figured out the patterns, I decided to test my skills on others. I realized that such a small thing as doing somebody’s hair, can bring so much joy not only to my life but also to my friends. Passions and talents that we can share with others are my favorite.
